Asphalting after Easter 2012

PRESS RELEASE

The next phase of Javea's resurfacing plan to focus on the carretera del Pla and the streets of the Montgó

The works will not begin until after the Easter holidays

Javea. Friday, 30th March 2012.

The resurfacing plan in Javea has finalised a new phase. Today completion of the works in the streets of the Port is expected, specifically on Fray Jaime Ibáñez, La Caleta, Barques, Juan Sebastián Elcano, Almirante Bastarreche, Pescadors, Magallanes, Capitán Soler, Bartolomé Ros, Churruca, Isaac Peral, Azagador, Andrés Lambert, Sertorio, Sevilla, Virgen del Loreto, Triana, Toni Llidó and Cristo del Mar. This area received the visit today of the Public Works Councillor, Paco Torres, and the Mayor, Jose Chulvi.

Torres explained that in addition too renewing the asphalt, a section of damaged sewer pipes have been replaced. Therefore, the only works that remain to be completed in this seaside neighbourhood are the repairs of a small portion of pavement on Avenida Jaume I that was slightly sunken due to groundwater seepage.

This repair, and all the other public works that are currently underway in the municipality, will be postponed until Tuesday, April 10th to avoid inconveniences to neighbours and visitors during the holiday period. The resurfacing works, which have already improved the road surfaces in Balcon al Mar and the Port, will resume after the San Vicente holiday and will focus on the Carretera del Pla and several streets in the Montgo urbanisations, which are currently being cleared in preparation for the works.

Therefore, after Easter two-way traffic will be restored to the part of the Carretera del Pla that was adapted for the bike lane, and several streets in the Montgó area will be resurfaced. The works will take place on the following streets: Auriga, Cuenca, La Ermita, Fénix, India, Leo, Montemayor, Rutilus and Vedat. After this phase, the resurfacing work will move to the Old Town, Thiviers, the Arenal and the Portitxol.
Likewise, the works to eliminate the duplicate lines and lane markings in the First Montanar will be resumed after the Easter holidays. If the results are successful, the Works department will carry out the same procedure in the Avenues Juan Carlos I - Alicante.
