Help us make a child smile ….
Jan 25th
Press release
International Childhood Cancer Day, which is celebrated in February, helps to raise awareness of childhood cancer around the world. To coincide with this special day, Javea’s “Race for Life” charity is organising an extravaganza of entertainment to be held on Sunday 13th February at the Municipal Sports Centre in Javea Port.
Our event ‘A child’s smile’ will be a fun packed show provided by local arts, dance and drama groups as well as stalls, raffles, face painting, children’s tattoo artist … plus much more. Doors open at 10.00hrs. Entrance 3 euros for adults, children free.
In conjunction with the event we are holding a children’s Art Competition with a top prize of a Nintendo DS. Details of the competition are available from local schools, L’Ancora Playa Bar, Javea or from our website. All entries must be submitted by Friday 4th February.
Although primarily an awareness campaign there will be an element of fundraising and any money raised will be shared between ASPANION and AECC children’s section.
Maddie, one of the organisers of the event, whose daughter has retinal cancer, has nothing but praise for these two organisations who support both the child and families through a very difficult time. The provision of accommodation, medically trained support staff, teaching staff and volunteers help ease the pain and trauma for many families like her own.
Many of us cannot start to imagine the anguish it must cause having your child diagnosed with cancer. This is an opportunity for you to support a worthwhile cause and make a difference to the lives of those who are suffering. Come along and join us in our celebrations on Sunday 13th February.
