Javea. Wednesday, August 24, 2011. Oscar Anton, Finance Councillor for the Javea Town Hall, announced measures that his department will implement to help take the burden off homeowners on their Property Tax bills (IBI, or Impuesto de Bienes Inmuebles). The period of voluntary payment begins tomorrow (25th August) and would have lasted until November 7th. However, the Town Hall Executive Board, aware of the difficult economic situation of many families, has decided to extend it another month to December 7th. Anton also announced that effective immediately, taxpayers will be able to make payments by instalments over a five-month period.
Those taxpayers who have domiciled their tax bills with their banks will be able to keep their 2.5% discount. In this way the Town Hall will reward early payment.
Oscar Anton also stated that he expects a system to be in place next year that will allow customised payment of all municipal taxes. The Councillor explained that the taxpayer will be able to concentrate all rates due and decide whether to pay in full or by monthly instalments. Once again, the Town Hall will reward prompt payment with discounts.
