Job Training Workshops with EU Grants

PRESS RELEASE

CREAMA Looking to Create Job Training Workshops with EU Grants to Restore the Windmills.

Javea. Thursday, 1st September 2011.

Javea Town Hall’s Department of Economic Development is seeking ways to collaborate actively in the rehabilitation of the windmills of Les Planes through CREAMA. According to Councillor Juan Luis Cardona, they are analysing the job training workshop schemes and grants available from the EU for regional development and recuperation of local heritage. Cardona went on to explain that the goal is to combine the protection of local heritage with the creation of job opportunities for the unemployed through a restoration workshop or school. The Councillor took the opportunity to acknowledge the hard work and initiatives of the Xàbia Viva group, who in addition to carrying out the restoration of one of the mills, is actively working to ensure their protection and development as a tourist landmark.

Cardona further indicated that beside the group of windmills, his Department is also looking for ways to assist in the restoration of the Granadella Castle and to finish the Riurau d'Arnaud in the Montaner Park.

In other news, the Department of Economic Development has received two grants in recent weeks. One is a 9,400-euro grant from the Diputación de Alicante, which will be used towards improving the signposting of municipal parking. The other is a 10,000-euro grant from the Ministry of Economy Trade and Industry in Valencia, which is to be used for revitalization, trade and promotional activities.
