New Car Parks for the Arenal

Xàbia Town Hall opens a new car park with 300 free parking spaces in the Arenal

Press Release - 21st June 2011

Xàbia Town Hall has set up a new area providing free public parking in the Arenal. This is a plot beside the Avenida de Paris, only three minutes from the beach and has a capacity for approximately 300 vehicles.

It is a disused, privately owned plot which has been ceded free of charge to the Council, which in turn will be responsible for its maintenance. Until a few days ago the area was in a state of abandon, requiring a coordinated clean-up effort and the clearing and levelling of the land to bring it to a condition suitable for public use, explained the mayor, José Chulvi. The car park, sign-posted at the entrance for free access, is open from today.
Councillor Oscar Anton added that the idea of using this plot as additional parking for the beach in summer came from the Arenal Business Association, a group that has submitted several requests to the new Council. Anton wished to thank the gesture of the owners "who have been very receptive from the moment that we proposed this and have provided us with every assistance."

With the opening of this car-park, the Town Council hopes to ease one of the main deficiencies affecting the most touristic area of Xàbia during the high summer season and hopes to provide "a breathing space to relieve the car parking needs" said Anton.
The Councillor also pointed out that the Council has other plots available to provide more parking spaces, should new needs arise, such as the plots behind Arenal 3 and 3A, although the size of the car-park which opened today in the Avenida de Paris area: "will, we believe be perfect for providing this service during the summer" he commented.

Also, in response to the requests of the beach businesses, the Town Hall is considering reorganizing the Avenida Libertad to improve the traffic flow, stated the mayor. José Chulvi wishes to highlight that all these measures are being carried out quickly, "thanks to the well coordinated work between the various municipal departments."
